On July 23, the Second Asia Symposium on Intelligent Agricultural Machinery and Smart Agriculture (ASIAMSA) was successfully held at the Sky Expo Center in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Co‑hosted by China Agricultural University and Nong Lam University‑Ho Chi Minh City, the forum was jointly undertaken by the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University, the Belt and Road Academy of International Agricultural Equipment Industry & Smart Agricultural Science and Technology Innovation, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology of Nong Lam University‑Ho Chi Minh City, and the Vietnam Institute of Agricultural Engineering and Post‑harvest Technology. Sinomach Digital Technology Co., Ltd. served as the co‑organizer. The China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association, China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association, China Agricultural Mechanization Association and Vietnam Agricultural Engineering Association provided guidance as supporting organizations.
Nearly one hundred guests from governments, industry associations, research institutes, universities and manufacturing enterprises of the six Lancang‑Mekong countries (China, Vietnam, Thailand, Myanmar, Laos and Cambodia) attended the event, including Fan Jianhua, President of China Agricultural Machinery Distribution Association; Chen Zhi, Director of the Expert Committee of China Agricultural Machinery Industry Association; Li Weiguo, President of China Agricultural Mechanization Association; Bunthan Ngo, Rector of the Royal University of Agriculture of Cambodia; Theingi Myint, Rector of Yezin Agricultural University of Myanmar; Aung Kyaw Kyaw, Deputy Director‑General of the Agricultural Mechanization Department under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation of Myanmar; Sitthiphone PHOMMASAK, Deputy Director of the Plant Protection Center, Crop Production Department, Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of Laos; Somchai Donjadee, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, Kasetsart University of Thailand; Duc‑Khuyen Nguyen, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Nong Lam University‑Ho Chi Minh City; Do Tien Duy, Deputy Director of the Science‑Technology and External Relations Office of Nong Lam University‑Ho Chi Minh City; and Nguyen Huy Bich, Professor of Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry.
Song Zhenghe, Dean of the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University, He Zhizhu, Vice‑Dean of the College of Engineering of China Agricultural University, Yang Minli, Director of China Agricultural Mechanization Development Research Center, and Associate Professor Mao Xu attended the forum. Yang Minli presided over the opening ceremony.
The 3rd Asia Symposium on Intelligent Agricultural Machinery and Smart Agriculture will be held in Thailand in July 2027. Faced with mounting challenges across Asian agriculture including shifting labour structures, urgent demands for green production and the pressing need to raise productivity, developing smarter agricultural machinery to boost production efficiency, reduce labour intensity and advance eco‑friendliness will attract growing attention.
China’s agriculture is undergoing a critical period of intelligent, digital and green transformation and upgrading, with abundant technical experience and industrial resources accumulated. As a platform and bond, the Asia Symposium on Intelligent Agricultural Machinery and Smart Agriculture will engage more institutions and experts for exchanges and discussions, so as to jointly advance agricultural mechanization and modernization for smallholder farmers across Asia.
